The Bus Network essays

The Bus Network essays The world revolves around technology. Everywhere we go we are affected either directly or indirectly by technology. In fact, almost everything that surrounds us is a product of technology. Cell phones, beepers, television, radio; these are just a few basic examples of technological advancement in our human history. Of the many remarkable achievements of technology, there is one that stands out on all of them: Computers. Computers started out as very complex machines to use and can only perform limited tasks for the user. However, as time passed by, computers evolved as very useful machines and, moreover, became user-friendlier. Still, man did not stop there. For mans need of sharing information, they found a way of setting up computer networks. A network can be defined as an interconnection of two or more communicating entities, or simply, a computer system that links two or more computers. Networks can either be a Local Area Network (LAN), a Wide Area Network (WAN), a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), or an Enterprise Network. A LAN is a data communications network in which the computers are close to each other, usually in the same office or building. LAN typically includes a collection of computers and peripherals; each computer and shared peripheral is an individual node on the network. A WAN is a communications network that extends over a long distance. WAN uses devices such as telepho ne networks, satellite dishes, or radio waves to span a larger geographic area than can be covered by a LAN. A MAN is a data network intended to serve an area the size of a large city. An Enterprise Network can either be a LAN, WAN, or MAN, however, an Enterprise Network is restricted to one organization. Now that we know the kinds of computer networks, have we ever wondered how these networks are connected to one another? Are these computers just plugged-in together by some kind of wire and then they ...

Business Ethics Assignment 8_08 Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Business Ethics 8_08 - Assignment Example It can reduce all the possible negative outcomes. Management of any organization can take right decision at right time by using this theory. Traditional utilitarianism has a couple of flavors. These are act utilitarianism and rule utilitarianism. Act utilitarianism states that right or wrong act depend on the situation or consequence. If outcome is good then it can be said that right strategy was applied for getting such positive outcome. Again in case of negative outcome, the opposite judgment can be observed. Rule utilitarianism is very simple by nature and it states that morality can be maintained by anyone by obeying moral rules. Now moral rules are basically those guidelines which provide maximum happiness to the maximum number of people (Taleff, 2009). The below mentioned considerations can be taken to determine what moral things have to do in any particular occasion. Utilitarianism is attractive to many persons as well as many organizations for different reasons. These reasons are as follows. From the organizational point of view this can be analyzed that different people have different interests and sometimes conflict arises from such different interests. It hampers the organizational activities. Utilitarianism helps to trade off between interests of different parties and reduce egoism in a particular group. It always focuses on the actual interest. Self interest is maintained by using this theory after fulfilling the group interest. This theory is attractive because people can judge the right and wrong decision by using utilitarianism. Second reason for the attractiveness of utilitarianism theory is reflection of morality. This theory is simple, powerful and rigorous system of morality. It establishes relationship between relatively correlated basic principles. This morality helps people to understand the wrong and right decision. This theory constructs a consistent and powerful philosophy and this philosophy can be applied in any situation

The Evolutionary Theory of Aging Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

The Evolutionary Theory of Aging - Essay Example The following discussions will try to illustrate the different theories that have been suggested to explain how these changes take place. The following discussions would be a on the different theories as they try to explain how the genes responsible aging evolved overtime. Evolutionary theory of aging is one of the widely used theories to explain aging of individual animals. According Weismann (1999), evolutionary theory of aging is relevant as it gives clear account of evolution of individuals with respect to the aging of the cells that are possessed by those particular individuals. He also argues that the most important aspect of evolutionary theory is that it gives an account of the possible evolutions of the cells that may result into the death of the cells or reduced performance and hence increases their susceptibility to death. Several researches that have been done by different researchers hence however reveled that it is difficult for this theory to contradict the Darwin†™s theory of evolution. ... In this context, the genetic materials that are supposed to play vital part during this time are lost and hence the negative impact begins. For example, the replacement of the tissues and other body parts may be done but the coding system may not take place accordingly and hence this result to the production of cells and the appearance of old tissues. The other important aspect of this model is also the appearance of the late acting genes that are harmful to the genetic system. It is important to note that it is these late harmful genes that contribute to the aging processes. It is believed that these genes interfere with the processes of normal functioning of individuals and hence it is difficult for the normal genes to act accordingly. Whether the lack of the late acting genes or the dangerous late acting genes, the main idea of this model is that the initiation of the aging process takes place as a result of complication in the late acting genes within individuals. While it is a s trong point to explain the aging process in theory, the question that remains unexplained is that the initial process that initiates aging is not well explained. In this context, it is clear that the process does start as a result of genetic complication. However, the theory remains dormant on the sources as this is not explained why these genes do not occur on the young people or those who have only lived for few years. However, this model has strength in explaining the genetic problem which is more explanatory to the practical aspect of aging. The other model is that which was suggested by William assert that the aging that occurs to individuals takes place as a result of pleiotropic effect from the genes. It is believed that these genes are beneficial in the early years but

Family life Essay Example for Free

Family life Essay Family life is full of challenges, but when we make wise choices, it is also rewarding. Family Life includes dozens of practical units on human development (childhood, teen years, adulthood, and aging), and living in a family (couple relationships, parenting, strengths, connections). All of these materials are intended to help you make choices that will make your family life more effective and satisfying. Family Life. A family is a household of people related by blood or marriage. More specifically, we can define a family as husband and wife (or one parent), with or without never-married children, living together in the same dwelling. A household may contain more than two generations of people. The family is the foundational institution of society ordained by God. It is constituted by marriage and is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood or adoption. A safe haven in which family members esteem and honor one another. A place where words and actions communicate value and respect to everyone, young and old. A reliable sanctuary where each person receives grace unconditional acceptance and extravagant generosity with no strings attached. A place where a person finds others available, attentive, and emotionally connected to them. A community of celebration, laughter, and play. A safe haven where family members can let their hair down, reveal themselves fully, and know one another intimately. Family roles are the recurrent patterns of behavior by which individuals fulfill family functions and needs. Individual members of families occupy certain roles such as child, sibling, grandchild. Along with roles come certain social and family expectations for how those roles should be fulfilled. For example, parents are expected to teach, discipline, and provide for their children. And children are expected to cooperate and respect their parents. As family members age, they take on additional roles, such as becoming a spouse, parent, or grandparent. A person’s role is always expanding or changing, depending upon his or her age and family stage. Individuals within a family have both instrumental and affective roles to fulfill. Each serves an important function in maintaining healthy family functioning. Instrumental roles are concerned with the provision of physical resources (e.g., food, clothing, and shelter), decision-making and family management. Affective roles exist to provide emotional support and encouragement to family members. Both sets of roles must be present for healthy family functioning. In addition, families must also consider issues of roles allocation and accountablility. Communication is the way you let other people know about your ideas and feelings. It is much more than the words you say. It is what you say, how you say it, why you say it, when you say it, and what you don’t say. It is your facial expression, your gestures, your posture, and your vocal tones. Good communication isn’t something that just happens between members of strong families; they make it happen. Good family communication involves being both an active listener and a thoughtful speaker. In this way children can see how to communicate well and how to have more control of their lives. A good man leaveth an inheritance to his childrens children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. Proverbs 13:22 The Bible speaks often about leaving an inheritance for our children not necessarily as a command, just as prudent advice. Applying this principle to material things, it is easy to see how helpful it would be to have the parent generation jump-starting their childrens generation with sound financial teaching and the means for them to start their own families with tangible goods rather than debt. This second generation will then, in turn, be able to help the third generation so much more, and so on. I am not talking about amassing and hording money. Rather, I was thinking along the lines of how in the old days, families would pass part of their land on to each of their children, and help them build a house/farm on it, or how the family business would be passed down from father to son for generation after generation. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. Psalm 16:6 Regardless of your financial standing, this same principle can be applied to the spiritual realm, which is also infinitely more important than the physical/material. The testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. Psalm 119:111 When we think about the importance of passing on to our children a heritage of godliness, living a life that strives to be in line with Bible principles becomes a much more urgent responsibility.

The Return of Depression Economics :: essays papers

The Return of Depression Economics From the many economy-related books available I read The Return of Depression Economics by Paul Krugman. This book was written during the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990’s. Many say that Krugman wrote this book much too quickly to be fully correct on every issue that he wrote about in this book. Krugman mainly focuses on financial crises of the 1990’s and mostly on the Asian financial crisis. This book was very interesting to read even though I did not fully understand every issue he covered. In this book Krugman laid out the basic fundamentals of global economy and the choices we had to get ourselves out of the Asian financial crisis. With the Asian financial crisis done and over with, many of Krugman’s thoughts and choices are now out-of-date. Even though there were an option at the time but now dated, they were interesting and I agreed on many of his points. Krugman believes that Mexico’s crisis was a three-act play with Mexico as act one , Asia as number two and us finishing off as act three. During the 1990’s there have been many currency crises around the world. For example, Britain and Sweden in 1992 to Mexico and Argentina in 1995 to East Asia's rim in 1997 to Brazil in 1998-1999. These crises are better known as financial â€Å"panics†. There are many different things that can trigger a financial crisis but I will explain Krugman’s classic example of the â€Å"panic†. International investors in New York, Frankfurt, London, and Tokyo are known as main investors. These main investors invest their huge amounts of money in countries that they think are doing well. From this â€Å"hunch† they flood their billions of dollars, about $70 billion into Asia, into a country’s economy. If they feel that they have made a poor financial investment they quickly pull their money out of the market at huge losses. These main investors cause a stampede of smaller investors to also pull their money out of the economy at sale prices. Th is causes a panic and seems to have a snowball effect. So in effect the country that once was flooded with billions of dollars is left off worse and soon is facing economic troubles. This panic has a tendency to effect surrounding countries.

Dental hygienist Essay

The transition I read is called â€Å"I have eventually found what I wanted to be when I grew up. † It is a personal success narrative about Shelia S. Webster’s journey to going a registered nurse. This transition is really relatable to what I want to be when I grow up because I would wish to go a Pediatric Nurse. Bing a Pediatric Nurse means that you devote your cognition and accomplishments to caring for kids from babyhood to late adolescent old ages. and their households. In this transition Shelia writes about how much work and clip it took for her to go a nurse. Shelia foremost started in the medical field as a labour and bringing staff nurse in 1993. but a few factors of this occupation rapidly had Shelia 2nd thinking her calling ( Webster ) . One factor that made her occupation less appealing was the emphasis of working in a high hazard environment ( Webster ) . The 2nd factor was the late hours. between work and school she barely had any clip to herself ( Webster ) . The 3rd factor that made Shelia want to alter her calling was the restricting attention she could supply in her installation ( Webster ) . All of that emphasis was doing her range her breakage point ( Webster ) . While still in school. her first measure to her calling was subscribing up for the legal nurse consulting seminar and before the semester was over she knew that nursing was the occupation for her ( Webster ) . She was willing to make anything to acquire herself into the nursing plan. to accomplish this she became a claims analyst at a malpractice insurance bearer ( Webster ) . She was determined to larn every bit much as she could at the insurance company and put up an independent LNC ( Legal Nursing Consulting ) pattern in about two old ages ( Webster ) . Her 2nd measure was to take a pilot trial. and it was an oculus opener for her ( Webster ) . In 1998 she got her Legal Nursing Consulting licence and said â€Å"I am really proud to hold those initials in forepart of my last name for the remainder of my life. † ( Webster ) There are a few grounds why Shelia’s narrative relates to my life. When I started my junior twelvemonth of high school I went to the calling centre for dental assisting. I was anticipating to travel to inscribe into Columbus State Community College. acquire a major in Dental Hygiene. and so acquire my Dental Hygienist licence in two old ages. However. after the last two old ages of being in the Dental Assisting plan. like Shelia. I knew I did non desire to be what I thought I wanted to be. I am traveling in a new way. to major in nursing. One ground is. since I was immature I ever took excess concern for people’s well-being and would wish to do a calling out of it. I would besides wish to spread out my nursing and go a Pediatrician. The 2nd ground why Shelia’s narrative is relatable to mine is that I am great with small childs and I think that being a Baby doctor would be a good calling for me. At 19 old ages old. looking for a topographic point to get down my calling. I applied at the local day care called â€Å"Bloom Latch Key. † It is a forenoon and afternoon plan for grade school kids to come to if they are excessively immature to remain place by themselves to wait for the coach. or for the coach to drop them off at their houses. Finally. the 3rd ground why Shelia’s narrative is relatable to my life is because I am acquiring a occupation as a kid attention supplier to acquire my calling started like Shelia worked as a labour and bringing staff member while traveling to school to go a nurse. While I am working for the Bloom Latch Key. I am fostering my communicating accomplishments with kids and going more sociable with them by assisting them with their prep and interacting with them on the resort area. To go a Pediatric Nurse I will necessitate an extra four to six old ages of schooling and take preparation categories throughout my calling. For illustration ; research workers find new diseases every twenty-four hours. so to maintain the parents up to day of the month with the proper cognition nurses take extra categories to larn about the freshly founded diseases. Once I become a Pediatric nurse I will be doing about 48. 000 dollars salary as a starting motor and work my manner up to 68. 000 dollars a twelvemonth. Similar to Shelia. I am working really hard to accomplish my end in life. to go a Pediatric Nurse. I will make so by go oning my occupation at the Bloom Latch Key and constructing societal accomplishments with the kids. I will besides go on to work hard in school and do whatever it takes to go a Pediatric Nurse.
